Campaign Story

Hello everyone my name is Tequoya Sheppard, I am 36 years old. I am currently married to my husband of 5 years Ira Sheppard who is also 36. I met my husband when I was 14 years old in Fort Campbell KY, both of our fathers were in the Army so we happened to be stationed there. Ira is my first middle school love. Ira and I kept in touch for many years after his family got stationed elsewhere, but eventually we lost contact. We promised each other at just 14 years old that we will find each other again and get married. Ira ended up joining the military at 18 and we lost contact. I ended up getting married at 20 to a older gentleman and having 3 children by him. It was a very toxic situation. I stayed married for 13 years. After having my last child my doctor tied my tubes without my consent and later told me my Aunt who was like a mother to me gave her permission to do so due to me having 3 children back to back. My husband at the time was very toxic and I was afraid to leave until somehow I ran across Ira’s fathers number as well as his grandmothers in one of my emails he had sent me awhile back before he moved. I called the number and spoke to his dad who gave me Ira’s email address and told me he was stationed in Germany. Immediately I wrote him and explained what was going on with me and my toxic relationship I was afraid to get out of and within 10 min I received a response back. We later talked on the phone and Ira booked a flight that next week from Germany to Houston to come get me and the kids and place us somewhere safe on his expense. That’s how I ended up where I am now. Ira helped me with the divorce process took care of me and my daughters and loved us all. Ira finally Pcs out of Germany and we all moved in together in 2019 and ended up married in 2021. The only issue is that Ira has no children of his own and we both would love to have a child but my tubes are tied and we just found out that I have PCOS so according to my doctor it will be very difficult for me to conceive so the only option is for us to go through the IVF process.
